Bahrain’s Disrupted Cruise Season Costs Economy $5 Million

According to local media reports from the Middle East, the political unrest in Bahrain will cost the small nation 50,000 cruise passengers along with some $5 million in passenger spending.

Bahrain has also had to postpone its Formula 1 race, originally scheduled for later this March.

Costa Crociere and AIDA Cruises have both cancelled calls, as well as some smaller, niche, operators.

The report also said that each call in Bahrain was worth (on average) $300,000 in direct economic impact.
