Costa Classica Repaired in Changxing

The Costa Classica has been repaired at a shipyard in Changxing, China in just 96 hours, according to media reports from the region. Cruise Industry News reported on October 18 that the ship had been damaged due to a collision with a cargo ship resulting from a power loss on the cruise vessel.

The damage to the vessel was reported to be 96 feet long, and almost 10 feet high, requiring repairs to more than 60 cabins. It is unclear at this time whether those staterooms are in service.

The Classica will set sail on her next scheduled departure as planned, an October 23 cruise from Hong Kong.

Apparently, Costa Cruises had made arrangements with the shipyard in Changxing just 16 hours after the incident.
