Epic Sails with KONE’s People Flow Solutions

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Epic features KONE’s energy efficient solutions for the movement of people and goods, according to the Finnish company.

To ensure the smooth movement of over 4,200 passengers plus crew and personnel as well as goods inside the cruise ship, KONE accomplished one of its largest single contracts on a single ship, it said, by supplying and installing a total of 41 units: 32 elevators, two dumbwaiters, one easy access platform and six escalators.

The energy efficient passenger elevators are designed and manufactured by KONE’s production facility in Finland, which is a specialized unit for manufacturing customized elevators such as for shipboard installations.

In addition to the Epic, KONE is also the supplier of marine elevators and escalators for the Magnifica and Eclipse, which were delivered earlier this year, and the Allure of the Seas, which is being completed in Turku.
