After four years, easyCruise has been sold to Greek ferry operator Hellenic Seaways, which reportedly paid 9 million pounds for the brand and the 574-passenger easyCruise Life.
Stelios Haji-Ioannou founded easyCruise in 2005 targeting young passengers who could book a day or a week, with all onboard services provided at extra cost. Over the four-year period easyCruise kept changing and tuning its product, but seems not have found the right formula, making it viable as a one-ship operation.
Haji-Ioannou has at the same time invested in one of the main shareholders of Hellenic Seaways, which operates a fleet of 32 fast ferries in Greece.
