American Canadian Cruise Line’s (ACCL) fleet is undergoing renovations that will give the ships a “more nautical and homey décor,” according to Marketing Director Maria Prezioso.
Work on the 100-passenger Grand Caribe and 84-passenger Niagara Prince, being done at the line’s own shipyard (Blount Boats), is expected to be complete in May. The Grand Mariner is slated to be renovated in 2010.
As for bookings this year, Prezioso said they have been “very good thus far,” attributing this to the line’s “entry level pricing for the niche market,” and a “B.Y.O.B.” policy onboard.
In addition, Prezioso pointed out that she has seen an increased interest in close-to-home cruising and sailing “the historic waterways of America.”
ACCL will be making its return to the Bahamas in winter 2010, sailing from Nassau with the Grand Caribe. “But our concentration will be the Great Lakes and the Northeast,” Prezioso said.
