Pearl Seas to Sail Later Than Expected

Pearl Seas Cruises is now looking at July 25 as its tentative start-up date for the 210-passenger Pearl Mist.

May 9 was the previously announced start-up date.

“The ship is late,” a source said, “but we are getting a very favorable response to the product thus far.”

The vessel is sold out through the end of August.

Pearl Seas is also expecting a second 210-passenger ship to be launched in 2011.

“We are looking all over the place for shipyards. And because of the economic situation, there are a lot of slots opening up,” the source said, adding that the vessel will not be built at Irving Shipbuilding, where the Pearl Mist was.
