Rein Assumes International Sales Responsibilities at Carnival Cruise Lines

Joni L. Rein has been promoted to vice president of worldwide sales for Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise operator.

Rein’s role has been expanded to include not only Carnival’s domestic field sales but also the line’s international sales efforts, working with travel agents both domestically and abroad.

Rein will continue to oversee a talented team of business development managers, who work with more than 30,000 travel agencies throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, Latin America, Asia, Australia/Pacific, Africa and the Middle East in developing new business opportunities. Carnival’s international sales/marketing efforts were previously managed by Jeffrey Weinstock, who has accepted a position as professor of marketing at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla.

In addition to domestic field and international sales, Rein will continue to oversee Carnival’s corporate and incentive sales efforts, as well as the line’s business development services department which assists travel agents with their day-to-day business needs. Rein reports to Lynn C. Torrent, Carnival’s senior vice president of sales and guest services.

Rein has more than 20 years of sales experience. Prior to joining Carnival in June 2008, she served as vice president of sales development for a Carnival sister company, Costa Cruises, at the company’s North American headquarters in Hollywood, Fla.

Carnival is the largest and most popular cruise line in the world, with 22 “Fun Ships” operating voyages ranging from three to 18 days in length to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, New England, Canada, Bermuda, Europe, and South America. The line has two new ships scheduled for delivery between now and 2011. The first of these, the 130,000-ton Carnival Dream, is slated to debut in Europe Sept. 21, 2009.
