Silversea Announces Executive Changes in Sales and Marketing

Ultra-luxury Silversea Cruises today announced organizational changes to further support its overall sales and marketing objectives.

Steve Tucker has been promoted from director to vice president of national accounts and eastern regional sales, reporting to Marilyn Conroy, senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Americas. He will have primary responsibility for maintaining key retailer relationships and expanding the national accounts program. Tucker, a certified travel counselor, has extensive experience in the cruise industry, including over six years with Silversea during which he established an impressive track record of building solid, long-term relationships with the travel agent community.

Joseph Proto has been named to the new position of director of Venetian Society, the company’s worldwide past-guest loyalty club. Proto will also be responsible for overseeing the onboard cruise consultants and spearheading programs to strengthen the company’s customer focus. Proto has been with Silversea since 2005, serving as director of world cruise and business development, areas which will now fall under the leadership of the global sales team. Proto will report to both Marilyn Conroy and Barbara Biffi, Silversea’s vice president of worldwide strategic marketing.

“These moves will be instrumental in optimizing our relationship with travel agents and our loyal guests,” said Conroy. “We look forward to seeing the positive results that will evolve from the expertise and innovative ideas that Steve and Joe bring to these roles.”

Both Tucker and Proto are based in the company’s Fort Lauderdale office.

Silversea Cruises is recognized as an innovator in the luxury segment, offering guests large-ship amenities aboard five intimate, all-suite vessels, Silver Cloud, Silver Wind, Silver Shadow, Silver Whisper, and Silver Spirit, all designed to offer an atmosphere of conviviality and casual elegance. With the addition of the regal expedition ship Prince Albert II, the company’s itineraries encompass all seven continents.
