Sports Express, LLC, a leading provider of door to door luggage and sports equipment collection and delivery, announced a recently completed merger with UK-based competitor First Luggage. The combined entity will result in the largest specialized provider of luggage delivery in the world.
Jon Trevelise, CEO of Sports Express noted that since Sports Express serves primarily an American audience travelling within the US and First Luggage specializes in international deliveries, the merger will create synergies.
“First Luggage’s expertise in delivering luggage throughout the world helps us better serve our guests who are traveling abroad, and our expertise within North America and the Caribbean helps First Luggage guests receive additional service options.”
Customers of the respective companies may continue making reservations through the existing reservation systems and call centers. “It is business as usual. We looked closely at this and there are so many positives that come along with this merger: increased service options, global marketing scope, doubling our customer base, reducing costs and resulting benefits for travelers.” said Gideon Kasfiner, CEO of First Luggage.
Gideon Kasfiner has been appointed CEO of the newly merged group, while Jon Trevelise will become COO. Larry Welte was appointed CFO and Nigel Freedman will remain as Commercial Director.
