Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has selected business development and travel industry veteran Dr. Zinan Liu as managing director of its operations in China.
In the newly created position, Liu will oversee all commercial and operational activities for three of the company’s brands, Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises.

“Zinan has a proven track record of success in the global travel industry, and an in-depth knowledge of the local market. This will serve him well as he works toward building our business in China.”
Liu has over 10 years of experience helping brands grow globally. Most recently, he served as director of sales and account management for one of the world’s leading travel management companies, Hogg Robinson Group. Previously, he served as vice president of China business for Crosby MTM Ltd., where he assisted major western companies expand in China.
In 1983, Liu graduated from the Shanghai Maritime University with a degree in shipping management. Liu also has a degree in economics from the United Nations, APEC program, which is sponsored by the Norwegian government and taught by British professors. In 1992, Liu obtained a PhD in economics from Queen Mary College at the University of London. Liu was also a senior lecturer in economics for seven years at London Metropolitan University.
