New Ports for Plein Cap

Boutique French operator Plein Cap is offering a number of new ports in 2009, Managing Director Christine Macocco told Cruise Industry News.

The line, which specializes in cultural cruising with the 250 passenger Adriana, will be calling at Saaremaa in Estonia, Kalmar in Sweden and Sassnitz and Warnemünde in Germany, on its Baltic program next year. Plein Cap is also making three new calls in Albania (Vlore, Saranda and Dures).

The company is looking into chartering vessels on the Elbe and Danube rivers as well, “as an alternative product for our repeat cruisers,” Macocco said.

Macocco pointed out that Plein Cap will continue to specialize in “intimate French cruising,” even as the French market continues to grow. She added that growth in the French market can only help the line by drawing more attention to cruising.

Plein Cap, which owns the 1972-built Adriana, sails from March through November (the ship is laid up during the winter months), offering cruises in the Baltic, Mediterranean and Adriatic, and the Red Sea.
