Earnings Drop for Steiner Leisure

Steiner Leisure has posted net earnings of $10.6 million, or $0.68 per share, on revenues of $135.7 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2008, compared to net income of $11.6 million, or $0.67 per share, on revenues of $130.0 million for the second quarter last year.

While revenues were up year-over-year, net earnings dropped due to higher operating costs. Steiner still posted higher earnings per share due to there being fewer shares outstanding.

Revenue per spa staff per day on ships dropped from $473 last year to $468 this year.
Steiner provided spa services on 125 cruise ships during the second quarter.
