Karin Viera, a 28-year cruise industry veteran, has been named vice president of sales – southeast region for Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise operator.
In this capacity, she oversees a team of 16 business development managers in eight southeastern U.S. states who provide sales and marketing assistance and training opportunities to thousands of travel agents within the region.
During her tenure at Carnival, Viera has held a variety of sales-related positions, including inside sales manager, director of sales and national accounts – western region, and most recently, vice president of sales – eastern region, for the past six years.
“In addition to an extensive knowledge of the ‘Fun Ship’ vacation experience and excellent sales and marketing skills, Karin possesses a keen understanding of the needs and challenges of our invaluable travel agent partners,” Joni Rein, Carnival’s vice president of field sales.
Viera, who holds a Certified Travel Counselor designation, earned a bachelor’s in marketing from California State University – Long Beach.
She is a member of American Society of Travel Agents, the American Marketing Association, and Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International.
Carnival is the world’s largest and most popular cruise line, with 22 “Fun Ships” operating voyages ranging from three to 18 days in length to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Hawaii, the Panama Canal, Canada, New England, Bermuda, Europe and South America. The line currently has two 130,000-ton ships – Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic – set to debut between now and 2011.
