Malaga to Host International Congress on Cruise Industry in September

Next September 19th and 20th, the Port of Málaga will hold an International Congress of Cruise ships called “Cruise Industry: an outlook. From great luxury to democratization”. The main goal of this event is to offer a comprehensive vision about the industry in a privileged environment, because the city of Malaga has become one of the main destinations in Spain and Europe chosen by the most important shipping lines.

During the conference, the representatives of the most important cruise companies, as well as from the government institution Ports of Spain and Medcruise will talk about the current situation of the cruise industry in the Mediterranean and Europe. They will discuss the two sides of the sector, existing nowadays. On one hand, the luxury of navigating onboard a vessel in a private and exclusive atmosphere, due to its small size and the high price of the journey. On the other hand, the democratization of the cruise ship, with dimensions capable to host a great number of passengers. The prices are more affordable to the middle class, giving the opportunity to enjoy this kind of voyages in the best conditions.

The President of Medcruise, Mr. Laurent Monsaingeon; the Subdirector of International Relations and Cooperation of Ports of Spain, Mr. Manuel Gómez; the European Vicepresident of Royal Caribbean International, Mr. Robin Shaw; the General Manager of Fleet Operations of Carnival UK, Mr. Philip Naylor; the Director of Marine Operations of Silversea, Mr. Hugues Lamy; and the Shorex Department representative of MSC Cruises, Mr. Nicola Cesaro, are some of the speakers that will participate in the conference next September. Moreover, the Managing Director of Málagaport, Mr. Sebastián Camps will take part in the event to speak about the growth of the cruise traffic in the Port of Malaga in the last years.

At the end of the conferences, people attending the International Congress of Cruiseships will have the opportunity to visit the historical centre of the city. This guided trip will allow them to learn about the tourist attractions that the town offers to passengers arriving in Malaga by cruise ship.

The conferences are directed to representatives from national and international ports, cruise lines, travel agents and to everybody taking part in the cruise industry. Information about registration: www.malagaport.net / +34 952 12 50 13.
