Louis Hellenic Cruises has chartered an additional vessel for temporary replacement for the Sea Diamond.
CEO George Stathopoulos said that the line has chartered the 1966-built, 28,891-ton, 790-passenger Oceanic II (formerly the Sea Princess. the Victoria and the Mona Lisa) from April 30 through May 28.
She will be sailing three- and four-day cruises from Piraeus to the Greek islands and Turkey. However, within a couple of weeks, Louis Hellenic expects to announce another addition, replacing the Sea Diamond, for the summer season.
“For the next month our market is covered. But we are working toward a permanent replacement for May 28 and beyond. The next ship will be a little bit smaller than the Sea Diamond,” Stathopoulos said.
