9.5 Million Passengers in 2003

The Cruise Lines International Association (CUA) has reported that its member cruise lines carried 9.52 million passengers in 2003, compared to 8.6 million in 2002. CUA said its members represent 97.5 percent of the cruise capacity marketed in North America and that the passenger total included nearly eight million Americans. CLIA’s member lines also carry passengers sourced outside of North America and include European and Pacific-based cruise lines. The 2003 load factor was 102.6 percent, compared to 98.6 percent in 2002, according to CLIA.
