As a cost-control measure resulting directly from the crisis in Kosovo, Royal Olympic Cruises (ROC) has consolidated and canceled Eastern Mediterranean cruises through the end of the season.
Passengers booked on the 620-passenger Stella Solaris have been moved to the 840-passenger Olympic Countess, which sails to the same ports of call but in a different order. In addition, eight scheduled sailings of the 300-passenger Stella Oceanis from June 12 to July 31 have been canceled and booked passengers have been given options to either book another three, four or seven-day cruise or to accept a full refund and a 50 percent discount on a future cruise.
“For us it was a very logical move that we needed to take,” said Cy Hopkins, vice president, North America for ROC. “We have seen a decline in demand because of the crisis in Kosovo.” Hopkins added that neither of the ships had been fully booked.
