Premier Cruises is currently involved in talks to acquire new tonnage, confirms newly appointed president Bruce Nierenberg. “We’re in the midst of those negotiations for a new ship right now, and we are looking at an announcement on that (and on other company developments) on April 1. ” He said Premier would not need to solicit outside sources of capital to finance the deal, and that any itinerary changes revealed on April 1 would in no way be disruptive to schedules already announced. In response to speculation that Premier would possibly position a future acquisition as a second Big Red Boat, he would not comment, saying only, “April 1,” and that Premier had several options available.
