Star Sale?

Star Cruises is reportedly in negotiations to sell the Superstar Sagittarius (exSun Viking) although a Star Cruises spokesperson denied knowledge of any sales discussion.

Already slated to depart the fleet this spring is the Superstar Capricorn which is earmarked for a new venture, Manhattan Cruises.

Meanwhile, Star Cruises awaits the 1999 delivery of the Europe, which it bought from Hapag-Lloyd. The vessel, which will be renamed the Megastar Asia, is still being operated by Hapag-Lloyd on a two-year charter deal.

In addition, Star Cruises will introduce two newbuildings, the Superstar Leo and Virgo, in 1998 and 1999. In other recent developments, Star Cruises’ president and CEO Eddy Lee suddenly resigned late last year and has been replaced by Colin Au, the company’s former managing director.
