Renaissance Confirms Two-Ship Order

Renaissance Cruises has confirmed its order for two 690-passenger vessels to be built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique at an estimated cost of $300 million.

Scheduled for delivery in June of 1998 and February of 1999, the two, so far unnamed ships, are expected to sail primarily in the Mediterranean.

Ship features include six dining venues, including casual dining options during dinner, and a no-smoking rule throughout. John McNeece is the architect/designer who has been hired to create the feeling of an “old world” luxury cruise liner, according to Frank Del Rio, Executive Vice President of Renaissance.
