QE2 Lawsuit Settled

A New York southern district court judge has approved the settlement package extended by Cunard to the 110 class action participants who sailed on the unfmished QE2 late last year following her $60 million refurbishment.

The compensation includes a full refund, two travel credits – one of which can be converted to a cash sum equal to half the travel credit value – and payment of lawyers’ fees. Passengers who accept the offer must submit proofs of claim by March 18, 1996. Claimants who wish to “opt out,” or decline the settlement must do so by Jan. 2, 1996.

Cunard has reserved the right to cancel the settlement package if more than 50 people decide to opt out.
