At Fincantieri, Costa Cruises’ new 50,000-ton Costa Classica was floated out on February 4, 1991. The 1,600-passenger vessel is scheduled for completion in November and is being built at a total cost of around $327 million.
The Costa Classica, which will be sailing seven day cruises out of Fort Lauderdale, will be joined by a second sistership in 1993, the Costa Romantica.
At Rauma Yards, the Society Adventurer of Discover Reederei was floated out last month. Scheduled for completion this summer, the 188-passenger vessel will be operated by Seattle-based Society Expeditions.
