Starlight Cruises to Homeport in San Diego

Starlight Cruises has announced that it will homeport in San Diego, offering one-day cruises to Ensenada with the 1,000-passenger Pacific Princess, commencing this summer, and seven-day cruises with the 600-passenger Empress, starting in the fall.

The new cruise line, which has been launched by Greek shipowner Anthony Lelakas, is presently refurbishing the two vessels, which were originally built in 1965 and 1967, respectively.

San Diego, which reported 105,000 outgoing passengers in 1989, expects Starlight Cruises to increase its passenger count to 210,000 within its first full year of operations and generate some $20 million in spending.
