Paradise Cruises: Floating Convention Center

Houston-based Paradise Cruise Lines is planning to build a floating convention and meetings vessel in the 70,000-ton range. Wayne Christiansen, its founder, said in an interview with CIN, that he has found a way to build a ship overseas yet operate in American waters under American flag. Christiansen, who estimated total building cost at about $250 million, is presently trying to raise $50 million in private equity.
