Crystal Cruises has decided to name its first ship Crystal Harmony. The 960-pax. ship, which is under construction for delivery in July 1990, will “deliver the most elegant, luxurious cruise experience anyone has ever known” according to Arthur Sbarsky, Senior Vice President of Marketing.
A travel agent contest to name the ship, resulted in more than 2,100 entries.
Sbarsky also ventured that the company will have spent from $40 million to $50 million in its three year start-up phase until its first ship sails next year, exclusive of shipbuildin and design costs.
A contract for a second sistership is likely to be signed by the end of the quarter, Sbarsky said, who also noted that by 1992, Crystal Cruises expects to have three sisterships.
