Swedish Carnival?

According to Swedish press reports, the Swedish Seamen’s Union’s project is still alive. It is reported that there are plans for six 50,000-ton, 2,000-passenger luxury ships, which will be built outside of Sweden, but operated and crewed by Swedish officers and sailors, creating more than 2,000 jobs.

The reports link the project to Carnival Cruise Line, indicating that the ships, which will fly Swedish flag, will be leased to Carnival for a period of sixteen years.

Carnival confirms that there are ongoing discussions with the Swedish group.
