RCCL Awards Contract for World’s Largest Cruise Ship

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line has contracted Alsthom, Chantiers de l’Atlantique to build a 74,000-ton, 2,500-passenger cruise ship, due for delivery late 1987. The ship, which will be 266 meters long and 32 meters wide, will sail in the Caribbean, with a Norwegian staff, under the Liberian flag.

Negotiations with the yard regarding a second, similar ship are underway.
