P&O Cruises’ expansion has taken another step with the official signing of the contract for the multi-million dollar refurbishment of its latest ship Pacific Pearl in Singapore.
Ann Sherry, CEO of Carnival Australia, which operates P&O Cruises, joined senior representatives from Sembawang Shipyard in Sydney last week for the signing, with work to commence on November 13. Sembawang Shipyard is a subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine Ltd.
The major refurbishment will include the addition of Pacific Pearl’s “Big Screen” on its pool deck, the creation of a new Salt Grill by Luke Mangan, new bars and lounges and the creation of a new Aqua HealthSpaFitness.
Following the three-week drydock, Pacific Pearl will make her way to Auckland for her official naming on December 21, 2010.
Pacific Pearl will make her maiden visit to Sydney on February 3, 2011 when she commences her first Australian season.
Joining Pacific Dawn, Pacific Jewel and Pacific Sun, Pacific Pearl’s debut will take P&O Cruises’ fleet to four ships.
