New VSAT Antenna From Furuno

Furuno Electric has announce that its new, Ku-band VSAT antenna for satellite-based maritime broadband communications will be introduced in the first quarter of 2010. This development is brought about through close technical collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, according to a prepared statement.

Furuno has offered satellite-based, maritime communication with the brand name “SafeComNet” since October 2008 with Ku-band VSAT service through which high-speed broadband communications are made available to ships around the globe.

Working with Mitsubishi, Furuno is now able to provide customers with VSAT antennas under the Furuno brand that it says fully satisfies the company’s quality standards for the maritime communication products.

According to Furuno, its new VSAT antenna facilitates constant satellite tracking regardless of ship’s motion. Also, in case of communication failure, the company’s worldwide service network will be there to back up the customers and fix the problems.
