CMV to Charter Azores from Portuscale

Add another client into start-up Portuscale Cruises’ charter portfolio as Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) today announced it will be chartering the Azores to replace the Discovery starting next year.

The first voyage will sail 30 nights, from Avonmouth, to the Caribbean, departing Jan. 26.

Capacity is listed at 550 passengers, double occupancy, down from the Discovery at 710. The Azores joins the Astor and Marco Polo sailing for the CMV brand.

The 1948-built Azores may be the strongest passenger ship afloat. As the Stockholm, she collided with the Andrea Doria in 1956 off the coast of Nantucket while sailing for Swedish-America line
