MSC Cruises cancelled the cruise that was scheduled to depart onboard the MSC Poesia this past weekend due to a regulatory matter.
The ship was scheduled to depart from PortMiami on Sunday, November 1, 2026, for an 11-night cruise to the Southern Caribbean.
Passengers spent two nights onboard before being informed of the cancellation, which was confirmed in a letter issued on November 3, 2026.
According to the statement, the issue that led to the cancellation was identified before the ship’s planned departure.
“We regret to share that we have made the difficult decision to cancel your cruise,” MSC said in its statement.
“On Sunday evening, prior to departure, a regulatory matter arose that required a resolution and unfortunately, the resources necessary to address this matter have not been available in time to meet the sailing schedule,” the company continued.
“We want to reassure you that the health and safety of our guests and crew were never compromised,” the statement added.
MSC apologized for the disruption to passengers’ travel plans, noting that the decision may have caused frustration and uncertainty.
“We know how disappointing this news is, particularly after the time you already spent waiting for your vacation to begin,” the company added.
MSC said that, in recognition of the significant impact on guests’ vacations, it will issue a full refund of the cruise fare and eligible prepaid purchases, including beverage, internet and dining packages.
The company is also offering a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) equal to 100 percent of the original cruise fare, which may be used toward any MSC Cruise that is open for sale.
According to the statement, the FCC must be redeemed by confirming a new booking by November 2, 2027.
“We understand that the cancellation of your cruise may also impact your travel plans, and we want to help make your journey home as smooth as possible,” MSC continued.
As such, the company is offering passengers complimentary Wi-Fi onboard to assist with making travel arrangements.
MSC will also reimburse eligible change fees and additional transportation required to return home for guests who might need to change their return travel.
As part of its cancelled cruise, the MSC Poesia was scheduled to sail to Jamaica, Belize, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica and Honduras.
Sailing roundtrip from PortMiami, the itinerary included calls to Ocho Rios, Belize City, Cartagena de Indias, Colón, Puerto Limón and Roatán.
