The Sokhna Port welcomed the Aroya for a transit call on October 4, 2026, according to the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).
Offering a repositioning voyage to Turkey, the Aroya Cruises vessel arrived at the Egyptian port with 1,327 passengers onboard.
The Sokhna Port Authority said the 150,000-ton ship arrived from Sharm El-Sheikh and docked at the DP World Terminal.
Guests reportedly spent the day visiting Cairo before returning to the ship for its departure to Alexandria.
“The arrival of cruise ships at Sokhna Port reflects the port’s operational readiness and ability to receive and handle various types of vessels in accordance with the highest standards of efficiency and safety,” the port authority stated.
After departing from Jeddah earlier this month, the Aroya is offering a nine-night cruise to the Eastern Mediterranean.
The repositioning voyage includes visits to destinations in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, in addition to a transit of the Suez Canal.
Starting in mid-October, the Aroya is scheduled to offer weeklong cruises departing from the Galataport Cruise Terminal in Istanbul.
As part of Aroya Cruises’ first winter season in the region, the 3,500-passenger ship will sail to a series of destinations in Turkey and Egypt, including Marmaris and Kusadasi.
The vessel will also sail regularly to Alexandria as part of an interporting operation that will see passengers able to start their cruises in Egypt.
The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) also celebrated the arrival of the Mein Schiff 5 in Alexandria in late September.
According to a separate press release, the TUI Cruises vessel visited the port with 2,506 passengers and 942 crew members onboard.
Serving the German market, the ship arrived in Egypt as part of a cruise to the Eastern Mediterranean that also featured visits to destinations in Greece.
Alexandria Port Spokesman Ahmed Bereqaa noted that the port “provides passengers with services to the highest standards of efficiency.”
