The Sea Spirit is available for sale or charter starting in October 2028, according to SunStone Ships’ website.
Having completed 35 years of service in 2026, the 114-passenger vessel is currently sailing for Poseidon Expeditions as part of a long-term charter agreement.
Originally part of Renaissance Cruises’ original series of megayachts, the former Renaissance Five was built at the Nuovi Cantieri Apuania in Carrara, Italy.
After sailing for a series of cruise lines over the years, it was converted into an expedition vessel in late 2010.
According to SunStone Ships, the Sea Spirit currently offers 60 guest cabins, in addition to a series of public rooms and facilities.
Among them are a 128-seat restaurant, a 110-seat presentation lounge and a mud room. The ship is also equipped with a gift shop, a gym, a wellness area, a medical center, a specialty restaurant and an outdoor jacuzzi area.
It underwent a $2.5-million refurbishment in 2017, which was described as a ship-wide restoration of public areas and staterooms.
The vessel also offers kayaks and Zodiacs for expedition service, in addition to a zero-speed stabilizer system.
Other features include fully air-conditioned interiors and two elevators, as well as accommodations for up to 85 crew members.
Before being chartered to Poseidon in 2014, the Sea Spirit also sailed for Quark Expeditions, Cruise West, Star Cruises and Sun Cruises.
Upon withdrawing the 4,200-ton vessel, Poseidon will take delivery of a new ship, as reported by Cruise Industry News earlier this year.
The expedition operator entered an agreement with United Waterways to operate one of the company’s newbuilds starting in September 2028.
According to United, the vessel is being developed as part of its white-label ocean platform, with features and further details to be announced at a later date.
