Marella Cruises has announced 70 new excursions for its Caribbean program, including the world’s steepest zip lines in St Maarten, a wind-powered land yacht sail in Bonaire and a steelpan lesson in Tobago.
Bookings are now available for the excursions.
Chris Hackney, CEO at Marella Cruises, said: “Our itineraries are designed to make the most of time in port so customers can really get under the skin of each destination on each sailing.”
“We’re already seeing strong early demand for these new experiences, with the Flying Dutchman zip line in St Maarten proving particularly popular and over 60 percent of places already sold,” added Hackney.
“These additions give customers even more ways to try something new ashore, while still enjoying the ease and value of our all-inclusive fly cruise holidays.”
The company said in a press release that the excursions will be available across the Marella Discovery from La Romana, Dominican Republic and the Marella Explorer 2 and Marella Voyager from Bridgetown, Barbados.
The new excursions include the following:
Flying Dutchman, St Maarten
Guests can take the Sky Explorer chairlift to the top of Sentry Hill, the island’s highest point, before speeding down the Flying Dutchman, one of the world’s steepest zip lines, at up to 56mph.
Sugar City Trolley Train, St Kitts
Guests can hop aboard the Sugar City Trolley Train for a relaxed journey through Basseterre, discovering St Kitts’ history and culture.
Sounds of Ponce and Salsa Experience, Puerto Rico
Guests can enjoy a scenic drive through the city’s streets as the guide shares stories of the artists, neighborhoods and rhythms behind Puerto Rico’s cultural identity. Customers then join a beginner-friendly music and dance workshop.
The Home of Steelpan, Trinidad and Tobago
Customers can discover the steelpan in Scarborough, Tobago. Skilled players show how they craft and tune each pan. The experience ends with a live steelpan band performance and a stop at Fort King George.
Expedition to the Window Cave, Puerto Rico
Led by an experienced guide in San Juan, guests can explore the cave’s chambers to find ancient rock carvings, learn about the area’s pre-Columbian heritage and hear local myths and legends.
Marella Cruises added that it also offers a seven-night Tropical Isles round-trip cruise on an all-inclusive basis with TUI Airways from London Gatwick to La Romana, Dominican Republic, on the Marella Discovery.
