Increase in Cruise Ship Calls Reported for Valparaíso

  • October 20, 2026
Ship Calls to Valparaíso

The Corporacion de Puertos del Conosur has announced the start of the 2026-27 cruise season at the Port of Valparaíso, which includes 30 scheduled calls through April 2027.

The organization views the 25 percent increase over the previous season as good news for Chile.

The corporation said in a press release that the season began on Saturday, October 17, with the arrival of the Fridtjof Nansen, operated by HX Expeditions, at the Valparaíso Port Terminal (TPV).

The vessel arrived from the Port of Callao, Peru, and continued to Niebla in the Los Rios Region.

During its stay, the cruise ship welcomed visits from the mayors of Valparaiso and Vina del Mar, Camila Nieto and Macarena Ripamonti, respectively; Puerto Valparaíso Board Chair Gonzalo Le Dantec; the regional minister for Economy, Cristian Mella; and Sernatur Director Carolina Carrasco.

Juan Marcos Mancilla, the corporation’s vice president and Puerto Valparaíso’s logistics manager, said the increase in calls is very good news for the city and the country’s cruise industry.

“This season, we will go from 24 ships recorded in the previous cycle to 30 calls scheduled to date, a 25 percent increase,” Mancilla said.

The season will end on April 15, 2027, when the Roald Amundsen departs.

Mancilla added that the result reflects Puerto Valparaiso’s commitment to the cruise sector and the corporation’s efforts to promote the industry nationwide.

“We are working with the various stakeholders across the port and tourism sectors to ensure this activity contributes to the development of the communities that receive cruise ships and of the country as a whole,” he said.

The organization’s Executive Secretary, Eric Petri, welcomed that Valparaiso will receive more cruise calls than the previous season.
