Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has announced that two of its ships, the Europa and Europa 2, will head into drydock next year.
First up is the Europa 2, which is scheduled to enter drydock in Singapore in January 2027, followed by the Europa in Bremerhaven in the fall.
“For us, progress means knowing from experience what makes our ships distinctive, while simultaneously having the courage to change what’s right,” commented Managing Director Isolde Susset, who is set to retire at the end of the year.
“We change what can be improved. We invest in what creates new opportunities. And we preserve what makes our ships unique.”
The cruise line said in a press release that the work will range from design changes, technical upgrades and maintenance work to conceptual developments.
For the 500-guest Europa 2, this entails new color schemes for approximately 250 suites and modernization of the atrium and its piano bar.
Specialty restaurants Sakura and Elements will be visually enhanced, with conceptual expansions also planned for the latter.
Hapag-Lloyd previously stated that the Spring 2027 season for the ship would bring maiden visits to destinations in Western Australia, Papua New Guinea and Palau.
The plans for the 400-guest Europa are still being finalized, and the cruise line noted that further updates would be provided the coming months.
