Puerto Cisnes, Chile, will welcome its first cruise visitor in mid-November with a call from the Silver Cloud.
According to Empresa Portuaria Chacabuco (Emporcha), which operates the city’s port, this is the result of nearly a decade of work.
Located in the Aysén Province, Cisnes will serve as a gateway to the southern Chilean Patagonia region, known for its glaciers and wilderness.
Emporcha stated that the arrival of the Silver Cloud operationally validates the Puerto Cisnes Connectivity Terminal, which will welcome the 16,800-ton vessel.
Port infrastructure was originally designed for regional ferries and cabotage services.
“Nearly a decade of management effort is yielding concrete results,” said Emporcha President Eduardo Vera Wandersleben.
“We have successfully established reliability in Cisnes’ community management to welcome a luxury cruise ship in just a few months,,” he added.
Cisnes Mayor Francisco Roncagliolo Leporati noted that the city invested in infrastructure projects to host the vessels, including the construction of the passenger terminal that will welcome the Silver Cloud.
“This infrastructure was designed with the expectation of attracting cruise ships. Today, that projection is becoming a reality, challenging to be excellent hosts to boost local commerce, crafts and services,” he added.
Felipe Candia, general manager of Emporcha, said that the Puerto Cisnes Connectivity Terminal is equipped with a floating dock and over 500 square meters of space.
The Silver Cloud will arrive in Cisnes as part of a 20-day cruise that sails from Valparaíso to Puerto Williams and features visits in three countries.
In addition to the new port, the 260-passenger ship is scheduled to sail to 14 other destinations, including Puerto Montt, Tortel, Punta Arenas and Ushuaia.
Opening the vessel’s 2026-27 season in Antarctica, the itinerary also features exploration in Antarctica and scenic cruising through the Chilean fjords before ending in Puerto Williams.
