The Carnival Luminosa recently arrived in Southeast Asia ahead of a scheduled drydock at a shipyard in Singapore.
Having completed a summer deployment in Alaska, the Carnival Cruise Line ship embarked on a two-part repositioning voyage in late September.
For the first leg of the sailing, the 2009-built vessel offered an 18-night itinerary sailing from San Francisco to Tokyo.
The ship then embarked on a 14-night open-jaw cruise that departed Japan earlier this month for Singapore.
Featuring visits to Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Vietnam, the cruise itinerary sailed to Kobe, Fukuoka, Seogwipo-si, Keelung, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City and more.
The Carnival Luminosa is now set to spend nearly 30 days in drydock in Singapore before kicking off its winter season in Australia.
The deployment starts with a repositioning voyage to Brisbane, which will depart from Southeast Asia in late November.
The 2,260-passenger ship will then operate a series of three- to 14-night cruises from its Australian homeport, visiting destinations in New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga and more.
In addition to the vessel, Carnival’s 2026-27 winter season in Australia also includes the Carnival Splendor, the Carnival Adventure and the Carnival Encounter.
While the Encounter will sail from Brisbane along with the Luminosa, the Adventure and the Splendor will sail from Sydney.
In related news, Carnival recently announced that the Luminosa will drop its seasonal operations in Australia starting in 2028.
The company said that the decision reflects a range of factors, including long-term uncertainty in the region and itinerary planning considerations.
Carnival is also withdrawing the Adventure from the Australian market, moving the ship to North America after March 2028. Making its debut in the region, the vessel will spend the summer of 2028 offering cruises to Alaska and Canada.
