The Buenavista arrived in Brazil earlier this week to sail its maiden season for Spanish startup Corazul Cruceros.
Completing a 45-day repositioning voyage that started in Hong Kong, the 1995-built vessel docked in Santos on October 28, 2026, and is now undergoing final preparations for welcoming Corazul’s first passengers on October 30, 2026.
A special event will be held in Santos to celebrate the launch, with travel agents, partners and media getting a first look at the 1,806-passenger Buenavista.
For its first season, the new company will offer short cruises to a range of destinations in Brazil, including Búzios, Balneário Camboriú and Ilhabela, paired with an onboard experience tailored to the Brazilian market, including non-stop entertainment.
Sailing from Santos and Rio de Janeiro, the three- and four-night cruises will be operated through the end of the year.
In early 2027, the Buenavista offers a series of seven-night cruises to Brazil’s Northeast Coast, which will be highlighted by overnight visits to Salvador.
While the vessel is currently scheduled to continue to operate in South America through late March, Cruise Industry News has reported that Corazul is currently considering options for extending the ship’s deployment beyond this date.
Originally built for P&O Cruises, the 69,000-ton Buenavista operated as the Oriana before being sold to Astro Ocean Cruises in late 2018, after which it spent nearly a decade sailing in Asia as the Piano Land before being chartered by Corazul earlier this year.
In an interview earlier this month, Corazul’s COO Camille Appeldoorn said that the vessel was prepared for its debut during transit to Brazil, noting that work was being carried out to remove Chinese features and bring it to the Corazul style.
