Aman at Sea has appointed Ertan Vasvi as captain of the Amangati, the brand’s first ship set to launch next year.
Developed through a joint venture between Aman and Cruise Saudi, the 94-guest Amangati is set to depart Palma de Mallorca on May 7, 2027 for its debut season in the Mediterranean, followed by a first Caribbean season in the fall of 2027.
Vasvi brings nearly two decades of experience in ultra-luxury and expedition cruising, the company said.
He will lead all nautical and marine operations onboard and will work with the shoreside team through the final phase of construction and into the inaugural season. He will also build and train the deck and bridge teams for the yacht’s first sailings.
Vasvi began his career with Silversea in 2009, serving as officer of the watch and safety officer before rising to staff captain across both the expedition and classic fleets, where he led the nautical and deck program.
He joined Seabourn as staff captain in 2018. Starting in 2021, he spent two years in Genoa as shoreside lead for deck, nautical and expedition operations during the construction and delivery of two vessels, taking delivery of both and overseeing their inaugurations. He has held command since 2023.
Vasvi holds a master’s degree from the Nautical Academy at the Technical University of Varna in Bulgaria.
“Amangati occupies a space that has not existed before, between traditional cruising and a private superyacht charter, and that asks something different of a crew,” Vasvi said. “At 94 guests, technical command and genuine hospitality are held in the same hands. To join while the ship is still in build is a rare privilege and I look forward to welcoming our first guests aboard in May 2027.”
