The Serenade of the Seas is back in service for Royal Caribbean after spending a week undergoing maintenance in Alaska.

According to AIS data, the 2,100-passenger vessel sailed from Vancouver as scheduled on September 6, 2026.

Sailing roundtrip from the Canadian port, the ship is offering a seven-night itinerary to Sitka, Ketchikan, Juneau and Icy Strait Point, which will also include scenic cruising through Endicott Arm Fjord and the Inside Passage.

Royal Caribbean cancelled the last sailing of the 2003-built vessel due to a technical issue that required in-port maintenance.

The company initially said that the Serenade would depart Vancouver a few days later, allowing passengers to board as scheduled on Aug. 30, 2026.

Royal Caribbean later said that despite around-the-clock efforts, its teams were unable to complete the necessary repairs in time, forcing it to cancel the sailing on Sep. 1, 2026.

As reported by Cruise Industry News, passengers had to disembark on Sep. 2, 2026, receiving full refunds and other compensation.

The company offered a future cruise credit (FCC) equivalent to 100 percent of the fare paid for the cruise, in addition to support for out-of-pocket travel expenses.

The Serenade of the Seas is now set to offer additional cruises in Alaska before repositioning to the West Coast for the winter.

Part of Royal Caribbean’s Radiance class, the 90,000-ton vessel is scheduled to offer cruises departing from San Diego starting in early October.

The ship will operate a series of two- to seven-night cruises to destinations in the Mexican Riviera and Baja California.

Ports of call set to be visited include Catalina Island, Ensenada, Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, Mazatlán and more.

The Serenade will then return to the Pacific Northwest in 2027 for more summer cruises to Alaska out of Vancouver.
