Royal Caribbean’s next Icon-class ship, the Hero of the Seas, was officially floated out for the first time at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland.
This marks the latest phase of construction for the 250,800-ton vessel scheduled to debut in August 2027 in Miami, which had its glass dome installed earlier this summer.
As part of the float out, the ship’s drydock was filled with more than 90 million gallons of water overnight before the Hero moved into the outfitting pier, where it will continue to take shape over the next year.

Following its August 2027 maiden voyage, the Hero of the Seas will sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Miami, with every voyage visiting Royal Caribbean’s destination, Perfect Day CocoCay in The Bahamas.
