Mitsui Ocean Cruises is introducing three new shows onboard the new Mitsui Ocean Sakura, according to a press release.
The Japanese company said that the new original productions were created exclusively for the maiden season of the 458-guest vessel, which started on September 19, 2026.
Created in partnership with Belinda King Creative Productions, the three new shows are named Encore, Icons and Dance. Mitsui said that the productions bring together an international cast of vocalists and dancers for a diverse repertoire that spans classical crossover, legendary popular music.and dance styles from around the world.
“Live entertainment has become a guest favorite onboard Mitsui Ocean Cruises, earning enthusiastic feedback and some of the highest guest ratings across the onboard experience,” said Tsunemichi Mukai, president of Mitsui Ocean Cruises.
“Building on that strong response from Japanese and international passengers alike, we’re excited to introduce three new original productions onboard the Mitsui Ocean Sakura, each created to deliver the spectacular performances, captivating music, dazzling choreography and exceptional production quality guests have come to love.”
The lineup includes Encore, which invites guests to enjoy classical crossover featuring internationally acclaimed vocalists. Mitsui said that beloved favorites were included in the production, featuring “The Prayer,” “Hymne à L’Amour” and “Nessun Dorma.”
Mitsui added that the show includes “sophisticated choreography,” blending classical ballet with contemporary jazz to create a “visually stunning performance” on the ship’s Ocean Stage theater.
The other two shows, Icons and Dance, are inspired by legendary artists and dance moves from across the globe. While the first is highlighted by timeless hits from The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Motown favorites, the latter celebrates a range of styles from Quickstep to Tango.
Joining the Mitsui Ocean Fuji, the Sakura became the second ship in Mitsui’s fleet. The ship was named at a ceremony in Yokohama before launching a series of short cruises to Japanese ports.
