Cunard has picked Damen Shiprepair to carry out extensive upgrades on the Queen Mary 2 at its Brest shipyard in spring 2027.

The ship will enter drydock on March 31, 2027, returning to service on May 9, 2027, as stated in a statement by Cunard, which also shared more details about what the upgrades will entail.

As previously reported by Cruise Industry News, the refurbishment program will introduce new suites and inside cabins.

Cunard has now shared that 31 new staterooms will be added across the ship, including 16 new Cunard Princess Grill Suites.

Every existing Grill Suite will be refreshed with new interiors, updated furnishings and finishes, and newly designed bathrooms will be introduced across all Grill Suite categories.

The remaining 15 new staterooms will be in the Britannia category.

The Queens Grill and Princess Grill restaurants will also be refreshed and additional outdoor deck space added.

For guests with pets, kennels will be redesigned and their capacity increased, with the owners’ lounge refurbished and outdoor walking area expanded.

Furthermore, Mareel Wellness & Beauty will be transformed and guests will be able to shop at new luxury stores.

The cultural and entertainment offering will also be refreshed, with Illuminations receiving a digital upgrade to deliver more immersive experiences at the largest planetarium at sea.
