Costa Cruises has announced the launch of its onboard singing competition, “The Voice of the Sea,” across its fleet.
“The Voice of the Sea is one of those experiences that brings guests together in a completely different way and puts them in the spotlight,” said Priscilla Reyes, head of sales for Costa Cruises North America.
“For some, it’s a chance to share a talent they love. For others, it may be their first time performing in front of an audience. What makes it so special is that our guests become the entertainment, while the energy and support from fellow guests make it truly memorable.”
The competition begins with karaoke-style auditions, welcoming up to 30 participants. Guests compete for a spot in the finale through rehearsal and coaching sessions.
At the final show, six to eight finalists take the stage to perform and share their talent with fellow guests.
Audience members are invited to join in on the fun, voting for the winner using a remote-control device, the company said in a press release.
The company added that the coaching panel represents “the convivial spirit found onboard a Costa cruise, bringing together a charismatic, experienced group that includes at least one senior crew officer,” such as the captain, hotel director or first officer, alongside a professional singer and a member of the ship’s entertainment team.
Once teams are chosen, each coach selects one finalist from their team to advance to the final show.
Guests can experience a full range of festivities and entertainment available onboard with evening performances and themed parties, including:
- White Night
- Silent Disco
- Luna Park Night, and
- Shining in the Dark.
Costa said it offers themed parties inspired by the regions explored along specific itineraries, creating an international ambiance.
Every party offers live DJ sets, themed costumes, custom visuals on LED walls and performances by dancers, musicians and singers.
