AIDA Cruises has welcomed over 40 new trainees to various departments of the company shoreside and at sea.

Three aspiring tourism management assistants, three office management assistants and one event management assistant are beginning their apprenticeships at AIDA Cruises offices in Rostock, Germany.

In addition, eight trainees are starting their apprenticeships as dialogue marketing assistants and one as a digitalization management assistant at the AIDA Customer Center.

The group is rounded out by four dual-study students in the Business Administration program.

Before the official start, they visited the AIDAmar to get insights into the world of AIDA.

Janett Hübner, manager of junior programs at AIDA, said: “Our juniors bring fresh perspectives, ideas, and a great deal of motivation. In the coming months, they will not only grow professionally but also become part of a strong team. It is always wonderful to see how newcomers to the profession develop into dedicated colleagues who forge their own path at AIDA.”

At sea, 24 cadets embarked on a two-week sailing trip aboard the Grossherzogin Elisabeth training ship.

The training voyage takes prospective officers from the nautical science, marine engineering and marine electrical engineering programs from Elsfleth, Germany, through the Kiel Canal, along the German Baltic coast and back through the Skagerrak strait.

Junior officers experience maritime life up close onboard and learn basic seamanship skills, such as setting sails, standing watch and navigation.

This tradition has been an important building block on the path to nautical and technical officer careers at AIDA for many years.

After the voyage, the cadets will begin their first assignment on an AIDA ship, before starting their first theoretical courses in the lecture halls of the universities of Rostock-Warnemünde and Wismar next year.
