Cruise Industry News takes a closer look at the maiden season of the new Carnival Tropicale, which will enter service in early 2028.
As the final ship in Carnival Cruise Line’s Excel-class series, the LNG-powered vessel will offer cruises from Galveston along with the Carnival Jubilee.
Maiden Voyage

The maiden voyage for Carnival Tropicale will sail from Galveston on April 15, 2028. After crossing the Atlantic, the new Excel-class vessel will welcome its first guests for a six-night cruise to the Western Caribbean. The itinerary will be repeated throughout the ship’s inaugural season.
Bahamas
Dates: 27 departures between April 2028 and April 2029
Length: 8 nights

Itinerary: Celebration Key, Nassau and RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay (Bahamas)
The Tropicale’s maiden season will be highlighted by a series of eight-night cruises to the Bahamas sailing from Galveston.
The itinerary features visits to Nassau, in addition to two of Carnival Corporation’s private islands in the country: Celebration Key and RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay. Nearly 30 departures are scheduled to take place between April 2028 and April 2029.
Western Caribbean
Dates: 25 departures between May 2028 and April 2029
Length: 6 nights

Itinerary: Cozumel (Mexico) and Roatán (Honduras)
In addition to sailing to the Bahamas, the Carnival Tropicale will also offer 25 cruises to the Western Caribbean between 2028 and 2029.
After departing from Galveston, the six-night itineraries feature a visit to Cozumel in Mexico, as well as a stop in Carnival’s private destination of Isla Tropicale in Roatán, Honduras.
Short Cruises to Mexico with Cozumel

The Carnival Tropicale is scheduled to offer a single four-night cruise to Mexico during its inaugural season.
Departing from Galveston in early 2029, the short sailing will feature a visit to Cozumel, in addition to a day of cruising in the Western Caribbean.
Short Cruises to Mexico with Costa Maya
Dates: December 23 and December 28, 2028
Length: 5 nights

Itinerary: Cozumel and Costa Maya (Mexico)
Carnival also added short cruises to Mexico for guests who wish to celebrate the holidays onboard the new ship, with two five-night departures on Dec. 23 and Dec. 28, 2028.
As part of the itineraries, the Carnival Tropicale will visit two destinations in Mexico: Costa Maya and Cozumel.
