Five new luxury cruise ships have been ordered since July, as Viking, Four Seasons, SeaDream and Crystal plan significant capacity expansions.

According to data from Cruise Industry News’ global cruise ship orderbook, the newly ordered vessels will add over 3,000 berths to the upscale market through 2034.

After taking delivery of its first vessel earlier this year, Four Seasons ordered a third ship for its fleet in early July.

As reported by Cruise Industry News, the 190-guest vessel will be built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, with delivery planned for 2031.

Four Seasons did not confirm additional details of the newbuild, but it is expected to feature the same design as its first two ships, the Four Seasons I and the Four Seasons II.

Two brands ordered new luxury ships in August, including Crystal, which firmed up a contract option with Fincantieri.

To be built at the shipyard’s Marghera facility, the new ship will be a sister to the Crystal Grace and is scheduled to enter service in 2034.

In a similar move, Viking also exercised options for newbuilds with the Fincantieri shipyard, adding two new luxury vessels to its orderbook.

As part of a deal initially announced in April 2025, the company will now take delivery of two 988-guest ships in 2032.

The vessels will be part of Viking’s ongoing series of luxury ships that started with the Viking Star in 2015.

More recently, SeaDream Yacht Club revealed plans to add its first newbuild, the SeaDream III, to its fleet.

Significantly larger than the company’s current vessels, the ship is expected to be built at the China Merchants shipyard ahead of a 2029 debut.

Bringing the brand to new destinations including the Great Lakes, the 230-passenger vessel will introduce new features to SeaDream’s fleet, including a greater selection of suites and expanded spa, fitness and wellness offerings.
