Tianjin International Cruise Homeport recorded its 100th cruise call of 2026 on August 4, with the departure of Tianjin Oriental’s Visio, underscoring the port’s position in northern China’s cruise market.

Tianjin is northern China’s largest and most established cruise homeport, serving as the primary gateway for passengers from Beijing, Tianjin and the broader region.

To date, Tianjin has processed over 130,000 cruise passengers, according to the Tianjin Border Inspection General Station.

The 100-call mark was crossed in just over seven months, reflecting the acceleration of cruise activity at the port since the industry’s post-pandemic recovery, with its proximity to Beijing giving it an advantage for the outbound travel market.

The port’s 2026 summer season features Adora Cruises’ Adora Mediterranea and Tianjin Oriental’s Visio running a combined 23 voyages through the peak season.

The summer deployment is expected to generate approximately 50,000 passenger movements, accounting for roughly 70 percent of the port’s seasonal total.

Tianjin’s strong showing in 2026 is credited to the return of two ships homeporting, effectively doubling the port’s homeport capacity compared to 2025, as well as Korea-only itineraries that have shifted demand toward shorter, lower-cost sailings appealing to price-sensitive Chinese travelers.
