The Seven Seas Explorer recently completed its 10th year of service after being delivered by the Fincantieri shipyard on July 1, 2016.

Ordered three years earlier as Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ first newbuild in over ten years, the ship introduced a new design to the company’s fleet.

Built at a cost of approximately $450 million, the 750-passenger vessel was said to be the most expensive luxury vessel ever built at the time of its debut.

Following a handover ceremony at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente yard in Genoa, Italy, the Seven Seas Explorer sailed to Monaco for its inaugural festivities.

The 750-passenger ship was christened in Monte Carlo on July 14, 2016, during a ceremony that saw Princess Charlene of Monaco serving as godmother.

Highlights of the event included a 40-minute private performance from musical maestro Andrea Bocelli, as well as a traditional bottle-breaking ceremony.

For its maiden voyage, the Explorer offered a 14-night cruise that sailed from Monte Carlo to Venice, Italy.

The ship remained in the Mediterranean for its inaugural season, offering 11 voyages that visited destinations such as Barcelona, Ibiza, St. Tropez, Istanbul and Alexandria.

In late 2016, the vessel repositioned to North America for itineraries to the Caribbean and the Panama Canal departing from PortMiami.

Currently sailing between Whittier and Vancouver, the Explorer is currently offering cruises to destinations in Alaska and Canada.

The summer schedule includes a series of seven- to 14-night itineraries to Sitka, Juneau, Ketchikan, Victoria and more.

In late September, the ship is scheduled to embark on a repositioning voyage to Asia, sailing from Seattle to Tokyo in Japan.

The vessel will then offer itineraries in the Far East before heading to Southeast Asia and the South Pacific for the 2026-27 winter season.

The ship’s deployment in the region includes departures from a range of ports, including Sydney in Australia, Auckland in New Zealand and Bali in Indonesia.
